Porthcothan Blues was painted at Porthcothan beach between Padstow and Newquay. I was lucky to be asked to appear on the Rick Stein Cornwall Series 2 and in early June 2021. This seascape painted en plein air on the beach and finished back in the studio.

It was challenging talking and trying to concentrate on painting at the same time. I found myself listening to the sea and painting instinctively. Using palette knives, rubber shapers, cloths and my hands to move the paint around the layers are built up in watery layers and thicker layers of paint. The waves started to appear and it was time for a break and a sea swim . Back in the studio, I could study it more, remember being there, the light and finish the detail to the painting with highlights and sparkle.
The original measures 120 x 50cm but is currently not for sale as feels special to me.
However I am doing a range of prints which seriously I can tell you, will be hard to tell from the original.
UV protected and available as a paper print, stretched canvas or canvas on board, it would really take you to the waves and sea if on your wall.
Please go to the Prints pages and email me your request. I will return invoice you.
