Layering the unique Cornish light and with a sensitive use of colour, my artwork capture the seas, coast and skies of the north coast of Cornwall which has long been shaped and battered by the weather drawn across the Atlantic ocean.
With influences of Rose Hilton, Joan Eardley and Bonnard in my painting, I filter out what is important from my daily walks, sea swimming and glimpses of the coast.
Large wave paintings come from being very close to nature in the sea. The large vistas and panoramas explore the colours and shapes in the landscape and the more detailed paintings split into sky, sea and foreground take a more detailed look at the tangled coastline of Cornish hedges and gorse.
UPDATE: It’s been a busy year so far with a lot of sales, but I am busy back in the studio painting all the paintings that have been waiting patiently my head to be put onto canvas. If you are in the area, you will be very welcomed to visit my studio to see the latest and works in progress.
